 Maintenance form

On behalf of the ECFO council and the association, thank you for being such an active member in your region. Please fill out the following form to submit your maintenance requirements. Please make sure to agree to all three items listed in the form. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact (person) at (email).

I accept the honour of holding the Executive Chief Fire Officer designation in Canada and I agree to put the best interests of the citizens of my region first. I understand that to hold the ECFO designation is a privilege that I must uphold as a representative of the Canadian fire service and of my department. I will perform all aspects of my job professionally, and I will continuously strive to conduct myself with honesty, integrity, and civility to merit the trust of the public and my colleagues. Above all, I will use my position to promote the safety of the public and the preservation of life and property.

In 2020 and every two years after that, you will be asked to adhere to the maintenance of certification requirements (MOC), as follows:

  • Each candidate must accumulate an average of 20 points a year over a period of two years. While accumulating 20 points per year is preferred, the assessment is based on the total of 40 points in the two-year period.
  • One point is 1 hour of relevant activity outside of regular job duties. Relevant activities for points could include teaching, mentoring, writing, courses, conferences, ECFO council, exercises, volunteer initiatives etc. conducted outside of regular job duties, etc.
  • Of the 20 points per year or 40 points in two years, 25% or five (5) points or 5 hours of MOC activity per year (double that for the two year period) must be related to each of (1) the financial acumen category (competency 20-25) and (2) the technical-fire category (competency 26-30).
  • Payment of the $50.00 MOC fee every second year to help us cover assessments and technology.
For more information on the maintenance requirements, please consult section 4 pages 14 to 16 of the ECFO Handbook.
