Fire & Emergency Services Self-Assessment Workshop

Cost: Individual course will be $400/person CND and if registering for both, cost will be $575/person CND.

 

The Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI) provides a comprehensive system of fire and emergency service self-assessment that can assist local governments in determining their risks and fire safety and EMS needs. I also can evaluate the performance of the organization, and provide a method for continuous improvement. This workshop assists fire and emergency services leaders in conducting a successful self-assessment, and preparing for an on-site peer evaluation.

 

Standards of Response Cover Workshop

This overview program exposes delegates to the latest community risk assessment model. The Standards of Cover process for resource deployment planning, as well as several of the latest Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software packages that can be used to map deployment. Delegates will understand the origins and uses of these new tools that allow the Fire Service to rationally plan for and justify levels of service.

This one interactive workshop is designed to:

  1. Acquaint participants with Canadian Line of Duty Death data

  2. Inform the group about each of the 16 initiatives and the way they came to be

  3. Review each of the present initiatives to learn who is doing what, where, and how and what any obstacles are

  4. Identify any present initiative(s) which need shaping for the Canadian Fire Service

  5. Create any new initiative(s) which arise from the group's work

  6. Provide participants with some basic tools to use in planning departmental firefighter life safety approaches.

  7. Share the results with other key players in North America.
